Jessica Dolan is the wife of Layshia Clarendon. The name Clarendon has contributed a lot to the sports world as she is a non-binary WNBA athlete.
Layshia, a talented athlete who played for Cal and twice received all-Pac-12 recognition, bravely made the pioneering decision to openly identify as non-binary.
Currently in his 10th season with the Los Angeles Sparks, his inclusion in the Cal 100 stems from their significant impact both in the sports world and in society at large.
In addition to their success on the court, Layshia has become a prominent advocate for LGBTQ issues, using their platform to raise awareness and promote inclusivity.
The trip was widely covered in the media, with notable articles in ESPN, SI.com and Cal Sports Report highlighting the courage to break down barriers.
WNBA: Who is Jessica Dolan, wife of Layshia Clarendon?
In 2017, Layshia Clarendon and Jessica Dolan exchanged their wedding vows. Layshia’s wife is in the marketing field and is also a former basketball player.
At the time, Clarendon was a notable player for the Atlanta Dream, having been traded by the Indiana Fever the previous year.
In 2015, she received the prestigious Outsports Female Hero of the Year award.
Dolan, meanwhile, worked at the sports and arts marketing agency Wasserman, managing female Olympians and athletes.
Likewise, Jessica had previously been employed by the University of California women’s basketball team while Clarendon was a player, including helping Cal to their first-ever Final Four in 2013.

Earlier that year, Dolan wrote a poignant blog post about his engagement to a black woman and the transformative impact it had on his worldview.
Clarendon, too, has actively embraced the role of an “activist” athlete, fearlessly speaking out against racism, sexism and homophobia.
In 2016, she addressed the issue of sexual assault earlier that year. Without a doubt, they were a formidable power couple in the sports world.
In 2015, Layshia Clarendon identified as “black, gay, female, non-cisgender, and Christian.”
Then in 2020, she publicly identified as non-binary and started using the pronouns – she/her, they/them, and he/him.

Layshia Clarendon and Jessica Dolan: marriage and children
As mentioned above, Layshia and Jessica got married in 2017. The wedding took place at the Shattuck Plaza Hotel in Berkeley, where the couple attended college.
The couple welcomed their child, called “#babyC,” in December 2020 in the maternity recovery room of a Bay Area hospital.
Layshia’s wife, Jessica, had just had a caesarean section after enduring a 29-hour labor, carrying the baby for just over 41 weeks.
While Jessica was recovering, layshia had her moment alone with her first child.
Apparently the baby, known as Baby C and referred to by his pronouns, responded with gurgling and squirming after being comforted by Layshia.

The proud parents arrived at the hospital without a final decision on their baby’s name, as they intended to make the choice once the baby arrived.
However, it took two more days before they finally settled on a name. They have chosen to keep the name private and not share it publicly.
According to Layshia, the arrival of Baby C had a profound impact on her, reaffirming their commitment to fighting for a more equitable world.
She expressed her intention to raise the child with a perspective that embraces gender expansion.
