Iván Cornejo is a Mexican-American singer and songwriter. Cornejo went through a breakup in high school that inspired him to start writing songs. He taught himself to play the guitar by watching tutorials on YouTube. The first song he learned to play was “La Bamba” by Richie Valens.

Cornejo’s debut album Alma Vacia reached #2 on Billboard Mexico’s US Regional Albums chart and #7 on the Top Latin Albums chart. The album sold 7,000 album-equivalent units, peaked at number 156 on the Billboard 200, and remained in the top ten of the regional Mexican album chart for 35 weeks. His songwriting credits propelled him to the top spot on Billboard’s Latin Songwriters chart for the week ending October 30, 2021. The New York Times named Alma Vacia one of the best albums of 2021.
The single “Está Dañada” went viral on TikTok in September 2021. It peaked at number 61 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the second Mexican song to enter the Hot 100. Billboard magazine named Cornejo its “Rising” column. Star Artist” for October 2021.
His second studio album, Damaged, debuted at number one on the Regional Mexican Albums Chart for the week ending June 18, 2022. The album sold 8,000 album-equivalent units, had 11.9 million streams of the album’s songs, and peaked at #4 on the Top Latin Albums chart. Damaged gave Manzana Records their first number one album. The album also peaked at number 28 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Cornejo was named the New Mexico Regional Artist for the 2022 Juventud Awards. His musical influences include T3R Elemento and Grupo Los De La O. The guitar solos in Cornejo’s songs include influences from alternative rock, a genre that his brother and mother listened to during Cornejo’s childhood.
