A brand has taken to social media to publicly accuse Nigerian chef Hilda Baci of breaching a N3 million contract with them.
A few days ago, Hilda went viral on social media when a flyer promoting a N25,000 meet and greet event with a chef did the rounds online. However, Hilda quickly took to Twitter to deny any connection to the event. She tweeted, “Hello everyone, this is to inform everyone that I will not be doing any meet and greets in Abuja. I would also never ask anyone to pay for such. Thank.”
Now, the event brand has come forward alleging that it paid Hilda N3 million in advance for her to participate in the event she had previously agreed to but abruptly withdrew.
According to a statement shared on their official Instagram page, arrangements for the event were completed, including promotional materials, after an advance payment was made to Hilda Baci. Surprisingly, Hilda openly denied knowing about the event in advance. The brand stated that Hilda’s actions had a negative impact on their reputation and as a result, they took legal action to resolve the matter.
“We regret to inform you that the highly anticipated event, scheduled for June 24, 2023, has been cancelled. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to you, our esteemed customers. Agreements for the event were signed, as both parties agreed to publish publications for the event, after an advance payment was made to Ms. Hilda Bassey.
However, Hilda Bassey, suddenly denied publicly knowing about the event in advance. Her behavior has negatively affected our reputation as a brand. Therefore, we are taking all necessary legal steps to ensure that justice is served in this matter. We understand that many of you have been looking forward to this event and we share your disappointment.
Our team has worked tirelessly to explore all possible alternatives to ensure the event can go ahead as planned, but unfortunately we are left with no viable options. other than performing the steps as listed here. We would like to express our gratitude for your continued patronage and understanding. We deeply value our relationship with each and every one of you, please accept our sincere apologies once again and we hope to have the opportunity to entertain you with Another notable event this summer. Thank you for your understanding.”
