Robert Walter Kerslake popularly known as Baron Kerslake, FAcSS was a prominent civil servant in the UK.

Kerslake was the ‘Head of the Home Civil Service’ from 31 December 2011 until 14 September 2014, before Cabinet Secretary Sir Gus O’Donnell.

Additionally, Bob retained his position as Permanent Secretary in the Department of Communities and Local Government.

In December 2014 Kerslake was appointed Chairman of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, effective June 2015.

On March 17, 2015, Bob was introduced as Lord of Life in the House of Lords.

Bob Kerslake was diagnosed with cancer before his death at age 68. The former Crusader peer and head of the UK civil service and permanent secretary to the Department for Communities and Local Government has died of cancer aged 68, according to his family.

Ros Kerslake, his sister, tweeted Sunday morning: “My brother Bob (Lord Robert Kerslake) passed away yesterday after a short battle with cancer.” “Everyone is devastated.”

Lord Sir Robert Walter Kerslake, a prominent politician, died on Saturday morning aged 68 following a battle with cancer.
