Robert Walter Kerslake popularly known as Baron Kerslake, FAcSS was a prominent civil servant in the UK.
Kerslake was the ‘Head of the Home Civil Service’ from 31 December 2011 until 14 September 2014, before Cabinet Secretary Sir Gus O’Donnell.

In December 2014 Kerslake was appointed Chairman of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, effective June 2015.
Additionally, he chaired the UK2070 Commission, which focuses on inequalities between cities and regions in the UK, from July 2018.

The findings of the inquiry, known colloquially as the Kerslake Report, were made public in March 2018.
In December 2017, Bob resigned as Chairman of King’s College Hospital Trust, citing “serious NHS funding problems” and called for “a fundamental overhaul of the way the NHS is funded and organised”.

Bob Kerslake disease: What illness did he have?
Bob Kerslake was diagnosed with cancer before his death at age 68. The former Crusader peer and head of the UK civil service and permanent secretary to the Department for Communities and Local Government has died of cancer aged 68, according to his family.
Ros Kerslake, his sister, tweeted Sunday morning: “My brother Bob (Lord Robert Kerslake) passed away yesterday after a short battle with cancer.” “Everyone is devastated.”
The tragic loss of a famous public servant devastated the Kerslake family, even though they knew cancer treatment was complicated.
However, no one wants to lose someone they love because the grief that comes with it is painful for everyone and can cause permanent divisions within families.
People are never ready to permanently say goodbye to a loved one, even when they are aware of the conditions. Some people are still puzzled by the circumstances surrounding Bob’s unfortunate disappearance.
Kerslake served as Director General of the Civil Service from January 2012 to September 2014, after which he became Permanent Secretary in the Department of Communities and Local Government.
In recent years, he has spoken more on issues concerning government-civil service relations. In the February 2022 Guardian, he wrote about how the Partygate affair had “damaged the public’s perception of public office”.
