16-year-old boy arrested for defiling 2-year-old girl in Edo

Edo State Police Command spokesman Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the arrest, said the suspect committed the offence in Egba community, Uhunwonde Local Government on June 7.

An investigation into the matter is being carried out by the gender unit of the crime investigation division. Nwabuzor said the suspect will be charged to court once the investigation is over.

When questioned by journalists, the suspect said:

“The two-year-old girl always comes to see my sister. She came today, I told her to go home because my sister is not here but she refuses to go.

“So then I picked her up, put her on the bed and pulled her panties halfway down. But I have not defiled her. I didn’t penetrate her, I just put my penis between her thighs.

“I don’t know what happened to me because I’ve never done it before.”
